Angela Walker win's for the 2nd time this year

Angela Walker uses home course advantage to win 2nd Tournament of the Year

This years Turkey Shootout was held and Kingsway Country Club in Lake Suzy. Designed by one of the industry friends of the WAGT Ron Garl. The Walkers (Angela, Jeremy and Brent) are long time members which was prevalent when they drove up in their custom made golf carts admired by all in the field.

Local knowledge was needed to navigate this course and Angela was the expert. Her Gross 87 for a net 68 was good for a nine stroke victory of her husband who came in tied for 2nd place.
Order of Merit- Angela's win has moved her into 2nd place on the SW Florida OOM race with Jeremy Walker keeping his 1st place status with his 2nd place finish in the Turkey Shootout

Player of the Year- Dan Anderson who won $98.00 Keeps his lead on the Player of the Year standings with Terry Schmidt 101 points back in 2nd place.

Jeremy Walker Survives Hole #17 to be the 5th 1st Time Winner of the 2016 Season

Anybody who has ever played the Flamingo course at Lely Resorts knows it all comes down to the par 4 17th hole who will determine the winner. Many leads over the years have been lost on this hole alone. 
James Stockman who was one stroke back was this years victim to the 17th hole putting two balls into it's watery grave recording a 9 as others behind  watched knowing he was now out of contention. Mark Thomas put himself in contention with a net birdie while Dan Anderson stayed in the mix for a net Par. Both needing the 17th to swallow the current leader Jeremy Walker. However with nerves of steele Jeremy recorded a net birdie of his own to win by one stroke over Dan Anderson with a final score of net 73.

Order of Merit- Jeremy's Victory has vaulted him into first place on the order of merit 99 points ahead Terry Schmidt. 

Player of the Year- Dan Anderson who won $64.00 has taken the lead for Player of the year over Terry Schmidt. Jeremy Walker who earned a total of 391 Player of the year points with his victory vaults to third place just 101 points off the lead.

Dan Anderson Wins Olde Florida Invitational

Eagle helps Dan Anderson win his first tournament in 2016 at the Olde Florida Invitational. 

In a rare but wonderful opportunity the WAGT played at one of the most exclusive golf clubs in Naples Florida, Olde Florida Golf Club. Local urban legend hints that the Olde Florida was built so Mike Ditka would never have to make a tee time. The club is strictly golf for the enjoyment of its limited membership which features a state of the art practice facilities, no homes, caddies and of course the "no tee time policy" Members simply show up and play when every they like. 
Dan Anderson who made his 2016 season debut made the best of it by winning with help with an eagle on the par 5 10th hole. Dan and Jim Stockman where in a tie for 1st after the front 9 at net -1, however Dan's Eagle for a net -3 (net -4 for the event) on the 10th put him in the lead by 4 strokes when Stockman double bogied the 10th for a net bogie putting him at even par. Dan never gave up the lead despite Terry  Schmidt's late run with a gross eagle of his own on the par 5 16th.  Dan won by 2 strokes over Terry Schmidt.

Order of Merit- Terry Schmidt 2nd Place finish extends his lead and remains in first place 150 points ahead of Angela Walker, Dan Anderson debutes onto the standings with 200 points in 4th place.

Player of the Year- Terry Schmidt remains in 1st place with his $89.00 in winnings but Dan Anderson is in a close 2nd just 43 points by earning 347 points on Sunday

Angela Walker Wins 2016 Debut

Angela Walker win by 12 strokes in her 2016 Debut. 

Angela Walker made her 2016 debut at the 2016 Bradenton Kickoff classic this past Sunday at the Preserve Golf Club. The course proved to be a tough test for this weeks field with an average net score of 22 over par and an average gross score of 105. Even Angela gross 87 for a net 3 under par could not help the fields average. Angela won by 12 strokes over the front 9 leader Jeremy Walker. Jeremy shot a 49 for a net even par for a 2 stroke lead but it was all Angela on the back nine. With a birdie on 11, a chip in par on 12 and a 40 foot putt for birdie on 18, Angela finished on the back 9 with 40 net 31.

Order of Merit- Angela's victory vaults her into 2nd place on the Order of Merit just 75 points behind Terry Schmidt

Player of the Year- Angela's Victory earned her 223 Player of the year points puting her into 2nd place just 53 points behind Terry Schmidt

Terry Schmidt Wins 2016 Season Opener

Terry Schmidt Wins Season Opener by 6 strokes. 

Terry Schmidt starts off the 2015-2016 season just as he ended last year. 1st place on the Order of Merit. In a year long dog fight with Rick Lopiccolo for the top honors Terry finally took the lead at the Season Final double point Tour Championship. Schmidt earned 137 points to finish with 2084 to Lopiccolo's 2009. " I want player of the year this year" Schmidt said after his round at Naples Lakes Country Club. Schmidt who came in 2nd place to Frank Monaco for Player of the Year in 2015 said " I look back to the event I missed when I thought it was on Sunday and not Saturday, If I were there I could had won it"   

It will be more challenging this year with the expansion of the SW Florida Tour. The Tour which had a territory of Punta Gorda, Fort Myers and Naples will be expanding North to Bradenton. With Achim Treibel  the 2015 Tampa Points champion now on the SW Florida tour for 2016 and the return of Angela and Jeremy Walker the 2014 top two point earners, Adam Reynolds the 2013 Player of the Year and Frank Monaco the 2015 Player of the year, and any new superstars who newly join the tour, the 2016 Season looks to be the most exciting yet. 

Order of Merit- With Terry winning this weekend he opens the season with 200 points to lead Rick Lopiccolo and Achim Triebel 

Player of the Year- Schmidt takes the early lead with 171 points.

Logan Bryant WIns at Historic Fort Myers Country Club

Logan Bryant Wins at Historic Fort Myers Country Club on the 17th Hole. 

Logan Brant who is currently in first place on the National Order of Merit has his sights on a clean sweep by also winning the Miami-West Palm Order of Merit. With his 2nd local victory of the year (3rd over all including a Major win) he is now just 3 points back of current Miami-West Palm leader Keith Varney. Add his current 700 point lead  for National Player of the Year and his 3rd place ranking on the Naples Fort Myers tour for Player of the Year it appears Logan is taking no prisoners to avenge his final round round collapse at the 2014 National Championship where he had a 4 stroke lead to loose by 8 to eventual 2nd place World Final finisher Michael Scarpuzzi. 

Logan visiting from the Miami-West Palm Tour was in a tight race with local J. Keith Cramsey at the historic Fort Myers Country Club which was built in the 1930 by legendary designer Donald Ross. In 2014 the course was renovated with new greens and fairways. With the course not completely matured coupled with the greens prepared for the weeks prior Florida PGA Professional's Coors' Light Open, the fairways and greens were fast and hard. Locals know the risk rewards of the course that feature up to 4 drive able par fours and short par fives, however there are many water hazards that run across the fairways that are not seen from the approach. Course knowledge is a premium.
Despite Logan's never seeing the course he managed to beat Fort Myers Local Keith Cramsey. Both were in a tie for 1st going into 17  when Cramsey's drive found it self against a big stick that could not be removed for fear the ball would move. Despite his best effort his approach veered right into the hazard. Keith shoot a triple bogie giving Logan a three stroke lead with one hole to go. Logan closed out his round with a bogie 6 on the 18th par 5 to bring home the victory.  
Order of Merit- CK Fernando, despite his 5th place finish was enough to jump from 3rd place to 1st place and is currently in position to win Naples Fort Myers 1st exemption to Nationals. Rick Lopiccolo who played in the New York Season Opener, won and earned 200 points to move him up to 4th place.  The race it tight with 4 members just a win away form taking the lead. 

Player of the Year- Logan Bryant earned 493 Player of the year points jumping him up to 3rd place on the Naples Fort Myers Tour Player of the Year. Frank Monaco remains in first with a 100 point lead over Tampa-Sarasota Tour member Achim Triebel.
