Bob Benser Gives Victory to Dan Anderson Bob Benser was two holes away from winning his 2nd event of the year. After recording a Net par on 16 Bob had 5 stroke lead with two holes to go. After hitting a perfect drive on 17 just 120 yards out from the green Bob pulled his approach shot just left which appeared to trickle into the woods. After searching for 5 minutes and declaring the ball lost Bob went back and re hit his approach which landed in the side green bunker. This is where it went south.......As Bob approached the bunker he noticed his original ball approx 20 yards past where he was looking, After asking the official if he could use the original ball and was denied, Bob became frustrated and took three shots in the bunker before getting the ball onto the green. With a two putt Bob finally recorded a nine for a net quadruple bogie. With one hole to play Bob still had a one stroke lead.  With a one stroke lead and getting a stroke on the par 5 18th All Bob needed to do was score an a 7 to force a playoff and a 6 to win. Bobs first drive went right into the woods forcing Bob to re-tee. Now shooting 3 Bob hit a beautiful shoot 200 yards in the middle of the fairway. He then followed with a great 4th shoot just 85 yards from the green. Needing to get up and down for the victory Bobs 5th shoot fell just inches from the green leaving a 40 foot chip to win. His chip and 6th shot just missed the cup and stopped two feet past the cup. With only a tap in for his 7th shoot to force a playoff Bob rimmed the putt and had to settle for an 8. Giving Dan Anderson another Victory. Order of Merit- The SW Florida Tour currently has 2 Exemption (Free entry into Nationals)  Currently Dan Anderson and Jeremy Walker are in 1st and 2nd on the points list to win the honors.  View Standings Player of the Year- Dan Anderson won 443 points to extend his lead for Play of the Year View Standings Team SW Florida (2 Time National Champion 2012,2013)   1- Terry Schmidt 2- Dan Anderson 3- Achim Triebel 4- Angela Walker 5-Jeremy Walker View Standings

Bob Benser makes 25 foot putt on 17 and chips in on 18 to win his first event of 2016 Bob Benser who was SW Florida's first Player of the Year back in 2012 with 5 victories as struggled the past few years adjusting to being an active participant in his 80's. With slower swing speeds Bob has revamped his equipment and expectations. With a little help from an old friend who happens to be a PGA professional Bob has found his "new" game and is playing better then ever.  However is was the Ice in Bobs veins that pulled him into victory on Sunday at Habiscus Golf Club this past Sunday. With the field making a run at Bobs lead late in the round Bob closed the door with a 25 foot putt on 17 and a chip in 0 putt from approx 20 feet. "Thank god i didnt know those putts meant anything" Bob said after the match. " If I did I would have three or four putt for sure" Benser added.  Order of Merit- The SW Florida Tour earned its 2nd Exemption (Free entry into Nationals) this past Sunday. Dean Weber Wins 1st event of the year in Playoff over Achim Triebel The true winner was Misty Creek CC in Sarasota, With its tight fairways, tricky greens, and beautiful weeping willows etching the course not to mention the 9 alligators on hole 9...hmmm. Misty Creek bit back after every par or birdied scored, allowing net 5 over to be the victor. Early on it looked like Achim and Michael Harris where going to be the two to tame Misty Creek but the field caught a break when Michael Harris had to pull out after 9 due to last minute meeting he had to attend and Achim triple bogied the the 9th hole.  By the 14th hole it became a four way race between Dean Weber, James Stockman, Milton Harshman and Achim Triebel.  Milton fell off the lead with two bad holes and after 17 Achim had a one stroke lead over Dean. However Achim recorded a double bogie to Deans bogie forcing a playoff. Dean birdied the first hole playoff hole to secure his first victory. Order of Merit- Dan Anderson still leads on the order of Merit. Dan Anderson Wins 3rd Event of the Year and is Front Runner for Player of the Year Despite the weather the evening before with 80 mile an hour winds and flood like rains The Highlands Golf Course at Meadows Country Club remained playable for  the Sarasota winter championship. With lose impediments, casual water and cart path only conditions Dan Anderson has emerged early this year  as the 2016 Player of the year for the SW Florida Tour. Each year a new person emerges from all skill levels such as Adam Reynolds a 25 handicap in flight 5 in 2013, Oscar Rafols a 3 handicap in flight 1 in 2014 and Frank Monaco a  17 handicap in flight 4 in 2015. Anderson a 10 handicap is the first to emerge from flight 2. In Anderson's quest for his third victory of the year he had to battle new member Michael Harris. Michael took the early lead after nine shooting a net even par for a two stroke lead but Anderson answered back on the back 9 with a net event par of his own to Harris's net +3 over to squeak out a one stroke victory. Harris however did win Low Gross.  Bill Koziol Qualified for Nationals by winning the non member qualifier. Thoug shooting a net 7 over par on the front 9, Koziol found his swing on the back nine recording a net +2 on the back nine to win Order of Merit- With Andersons Win earning 200 points for the 2nd week in a row he moves into 1st place pulling ahead of 7 week leader Jerey Walker View Standings Player of the Year- Dan Anderson extends his lead to 746 points over Terry Schmidt by earning 458 player of the year points at the Sarsota Winter Championship View Standings Team SW Florida (2 Time National Champion 2012,2013)   1- Terry Schmidt 2- Dan Anderson 3- Achim Triebel 4- Angela Walker 5-Jeremy Walker View Standings

Dan Anderson Wins 2nd Tournament of the Year At this years Copperhead Challenge the tournament was delayed an hour due to heavy rains for two hours prior to tee off. With casual water in most fairways and most tee boxes, the winner would be the one who could adapt the best.  Dan Anderson and Terry Schmidt were up to the challenge on the front nine shooting Net -1 and net even par respectively trading the lead several times. Anderson pulled ahead to a five stroke lead on the first three holes on the back nine, however Schmidt battled back pulling within one stroke with two to play, but with two back to back three putts for two consecutive bogies Schmidt couldnt close the gap and Anderson won by one stroke at Net 76. Order of Merit- With Andersons Win he moves into 2nd place 28 points behind Jerey Walker View Standings Player of the Year- Dan Anderson extends his lead to 313 points over Terry Schmidt View Standings Team SW Florida (2 Time National Champion 2012,2013)   1- Terry Schmidt 2- Dan Anderson 3- Achim Triebel 4- Angela Walker 5-Jeremy Walker View Standings
