| Logan Bryant Wins at Historic Fort Myers Country Club on the 17th Hole. Logan Brant who is currently in first place on the National Order of Merit has his sights on a clean sweep by also winning the Miami-West Palm Order of Merit. With his 2nd local victory of the year (3rd over all including a Major win) he is now just 3 points back of current Miami-West Palm leader Keith Varney. Add his current 700 point lead for National Player of the Year and his 3rd place ranking on the Naples Fort Myers tour for Player of the Year it appears Logan is taking no prisoners to avenge his final round round collapse at the 2014 National Championship where he had a 4 stroke lead to loose by 8 to eventual 2nd place World Final finisher Michael Scarpuzzi. Logan visiting from the Miami-West Palm Tour was in a tight race with local J. Keith Cramsey at the historic Fort Myers Country Club which was built in the 1930 by legendary designer Donald Ross. In 2014 the course was renovated with new greens and fairways. With the course not completely matured coupled with the greens prepared for the weeks prior Florida PGA Professional's Coors' Light Open, the fairways and greens were fast and hard. Locals know the risk rewards of the course that feature up to 4 drive able par fours and short par fives, however there are many water hazards that run across the fairways that are not seen from the approach. Course knowledge is a premium. Despite Logan's never seeing the course he managed to beat Fort Myers Local Keith Cramsey. Both were in a tie for 1st going into 17 when Cramsey's drive found it self against a big stick that could not be removed for fear the ball would move. Despite his best effort his approach veered right into the hazard. Keith shoot a triple bogie giving Logan a three stroke lead with one hole to go. Logan closed out his round with a bogie 6 on the 18th par 5 to bring home the victory. Order of Merit- CK Fernando, despite his 5th place finish was enough to jump from 3rd place to 1st place and is currently in position to win Naples Fort Myers 1st exemption to Nationals. Rick Lopiccolo who played in the New York Season Opener, won and earned 200 points to move him up to 4th place. The race it tight with 4 members just a win away form taking the lead. Player of the Year- Logan Bryant earned 493 Player of the year points jumping him up to 3rd place on the Naples Fort Myers Tour Player of the Year. Frank Monaco remains in first with a 100 point lead over Tampa-Sarasota Tour member Achim Triebel. Team Naples-Fort Myers- Remains the same as week before with: 1- Ck Fernando 2- Terry Schmidt 3- Frank Monaco 4- Rick Lopiccolo 5- Bob Benser Senior 1st, 2nd and 3rd alternates....Adam Reynolds, Don Miller, Chad Yeager Qualifier- J Keith Cramsey qualifies for Nationals. |
